Rotaract District Conference September 2008

 CONFERENCE TIME AGAIN.....

Dear Rotaractors and Rotarians,

Without a doubt, the most anticipated Rotaract and Rotary event of the year comes in September, when we hold our Rotaract District Conference. The Rotaract District Conference’ purpose is to further the program of Rotaract through fellowship, service, and the discussion of matters relating to the affairs of clubs in the district and Rotaract in general. We also aim to strengthen and develop rapport among Rotaract clubs as well as to celebrate successes that we've seen throughout the year. This year your District Committee will be hosting the ROTARACT DISTRICT CONFERENCE 2008 at Dublin International Hostel, Mountjoy Street, Dublin with the theme “Reach for the Stars…Make Dreams Real”.

A percentage of the tickets sold for the Black Tie Dinner will go towards the Rotaract D1160 International Service Project 2009 in aid of Rombo. We are planning a sponsored hike in the Grand Canyon to raise funds towards the Rombo Light of Masai Project in Kenya. Come along to Conference and find out all the details!!!!

Your input is crucial for this conference . In attendance will be all the Rotaract Presidents from counties all over Ireland along with experienced Rotarians plus the Rotary District Governor, Paul Hutchinson. It is guaranteed to be a day of skill sharing and resulting in an increased support network for all those connected to Rotaract. It is your Rotaract conference for your future or present Rotaract club. The aim is that no matter what our level of experience we can learn from each other and help each other to achieve our dreams and wishes.

At Rotaract District Conference, we will be learning through those experiences as to how we decide what directions we have to take for clubs to grow, develop and sustain while having fun along the way. We will all be re-educated on how to dream and realise that dreams can come through with the support network of Rotaract behind you. Most of all, by dreaming the way professionals dream, we make ourselves BIG.

It has been tradition for Rotarians to support the conference by attending or indeed sending young people who you feel might be interested in setting up a Rotaract club in the coming year. Several Rotarians have supported the Rotaract District Conference over the years that we would like to acknowledge namely Taskforce Committee members, Past District Governors, Current DG and also DG Elects and we look forward to their continued support for the coming year.

Rotaract clubs from Galway, Belfast, Cork, Lisburn, Dublin North, Dublin City, Dublin South and even Interactors from Galway are invited to take part in the said special event.

What we have planned this year is big
I mean BIGbecause we will be talking about everyone’s dream. Your Dream! Your club's Dream! We will be planning events for Rotaractors that allow them to follow through on their Big Dreams this coming Rotaract year!

I think this theme rings a bell in our generation of Xs and Ys. We are in constant search of what we would want to do. But this is not only a matter of careers or business aspirations; this is a matter of searching our identity
our upcoming roles in the Big World.

We do not know what will become of us after the Conference nor what direction each club will take as individual clubs, but we tell you this: It will be Rotaract District Conference 2008 that will take you back to your visions
the way you saw yourself when you were dreaming as a child. It will be an event that encourages all of us to go up there and do it! It is an event that’s about you
as a person who will make a difference, a person of essence, a person who will excel and also about your club and district- a group of people who will make a difference, people of essence and people who will excel together- Rotaractors!!

We look forward to hosting Rotarians and Rotaractors from all clubs at the District Conference on the 19th and 20th September 2008.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further information or assistance.

On behalf of Rotaract District Committee,
